The ARC was incorporated in 1966 with the following objectives:

To promote the breeding of purebred retrievers and bring their natural qualities toward perfection.
To protect and advance the interests of the retriever breeds by encouraging sportsmanlike competition.
To promote the efforts of game conservation through the use of hunting companions.
To conduct sanctioned and licensed Field Trials and Hunting Tests under the rules of the American Kennel Club.

The ARC holds one or two Hunting Tests each year. In addition to these official events, ARC holds several picnic trials and fun hunts throughout the year. These club events are designed to promote inter-club competition as well as provide training for the AKC events.

Many club members participate in American Kennel Club (AKC) sanctioned hunt tests. Hunt tests are a fun way to extend the hunting season and to evaluate our dogs doing the job they were bred to do.
